I wanted to come up with a personal logo he could use as his branding identity. I decided to place the emphasis on his initials, and went for a bulls eye type effect with the circles. The whole branding
identity graphics is varying shades of black, grey and white, black, as these colors are often associated with sleekness, and efficiency.
Logotype and personal branding identity for Joy Gbasouzor based in Dallas TX.
The main goal in development was to create a unique though simple logo,
that could become a recognized brand. That is why I opted for a center
logo, and negative space in terms of style. This allowed me to combine
three conceptions in one symbol. After a number of variations, the
solution was found by using unique variations of the letters J and G.
After that, the dominant color palette of the whole corporate identity
had to be chosen. We decided on using gold and black as the main theme
colors, which gives the brand a feeling of sleekness and luxury. We also
decided to use smaller variations of the logo repeated, as a play on
the style found in high end designer brands. This was a perfect fit not
only for the client, who personally values and embodies these qualities,
but also her business, which is Wellness Consulting.

It's wedding season, and I was commissioned to photograph a wedding of a fellow LBCC alum (Go Vikings!!) I thought the venue was perfect for the couple and everything was simple, classic, and timeless.
This is a shoot that I worked on recently, and I really wanted to play around with the idea of using a minimal lighting setup, yet still having a dramatic effect to it. David was a great model and it's always fun to photograph in new locations and with new people.
Torin and Drew talk Jurassic World, social engineering and technology. [Recorded June 16, 2015]
Torin and Drew discuss technology and its impact on gaming, and how new tech has helped and hurt the gaming industry.
I was commissioned by one of my very good friends to photograph images for his upcoming website redesign. We wanted to show off some aspects of his personality such as his humor and fun loving nature, yet we wanted to retain elements of class and professionalism. I believe we accomplished that goal. The shots to me almost look cinematic, which is my favorite look for photos...and also reminded me of my favorite photographer, Philip Lorca Di Corcia's work in a way which also has that cinematic movie still look.
(Also LOVED shooting with the Stormtrooper helmet!! Anytime I can incorporate Star Wars into anything, I can and will!)
Torin and Drew discuss the Star Wars Franchise, George Lucas, and controversy in the Star Wars fandom.

Promotional materials I created for TWU Pioneer Golf Course's 2013 Pioneer Open and this years event.
For this shoot I really wanted to experiment with makeup and using it to create texture, and to just play around with shooting in water, which I was initially hesitant about, but I am pretty satisfied with the overall turnout. I really enjoyed my model, Joy, who has amazing bone structure!
This is my new endeavor that I am working on for the summer, TorinTalks! which is a weekly channel on YouTube. The plan is to discuss music, movies, art, comics, and of course Star Wars and a bunch of other pop-culture artsy nerdiness. The process is going slower than expected, but I am sure the pace will pick up very soon. The channel can be found here, and I have included a look at the promo video for what's to come. This process is also helping me to improve my skills in after effects, a program I haven't had much experience with before this, and also Premiere and Sony Vegas are becoming my new best friends.
I can honestly say that this is one of the most enjoyable photo sessions that I've ever worked on. The entire night was a total blast and everyone had a really good time on set. It is always good to work with people who want to make the process enjoyable for everyone. This is my second photo collaboration with my friend Johnathon Stewart Newman, who is modeling once again for me, and this time he brought two of his really good buddies, Corbin and Trent, to model as well. I loved working with these guys and would do so again anytime.
This degree was six long years in the making. All the sacrifices, loss, tears and sweat paid off when I was able to get this degree and hear them call my name. I am truly thankful to all the people who helped me achieve this goal! It also feels good to have something to be truly proud of.
This is a photo shoot that has been stuck in the planning stage for a very long time, and I'm glad that it all came together. My model is a friend of mine, Johnathon Stewart Newman, who is an amazing artist in his own right. His paintings and drawing work blows me away every time I see it. He has a quote that's written in the photograph that says, "Art is self-expression through any medium you choose." This is a statement that I fully agree with, and taking drawing for an entire semester has only solidified my choice of photography/film as my art form.
This shoot was filled with "firsts" for me. This is the first time I've shot a female nude, and it's also my first time photographing someone with my name and from California who transferred to TWU. It was also the first time I've booked a model and a shoot while prepping for another shoot. For the record, it's always weird meeting someone with your name because I never say my own name that much and saying it in that frequency just sounds strange? Only me? Okay. But Latoya was very easy to photograph and I would like to shoot Latoya again in the future.
Ive recently added ceramic pieces to my reflection series...they are full scale pages of journal entries, writings, and lyrics used on the Reflections photo series. In total, these15 pieces bring the series to a total of 25 pieces. Which would make it finally, at long last, a full complete series. That's officially a wrap on Reflections!!
This was a very special night for me, it was my first gallery show since I've been in Texas. Everyone was very responsive to the work, and I was extended the offer to show here again, so I would classify this as a success. I want to thank everyone who came out tonight, I really appreciate the love and support!!
Recently two of my pieces from the reflection series (photo directly above ans below) were chosen to be in a Fall Showcase at Oxide Gallery in Denton, Texas. The Reflection series, Started in 2009, is about an internal dialogue, the conversations you have within
yourself, and how those dialogues and conversations influence not only your own reflection, but the reflection of the world within you, and around you. These are the four original images from the series.
Photography is my calling, my profession, and the thing that will undoubtedly drive me insane someday. I don’t photograph subjects. I photograph the way they make me feel.
Admittedly, it’s a bit of a strange concept. But it’s honest – and it’s the best way to describe my approach to the craft. I wrestle with every image I shoot. I assume perfection is possible and I want to wring it out of every picture. If that’s all you ever know about me, it’s enough to say you know me very, very well..
